Alternative Music - Suelily

Written By Isaac Ouro-Gnao

Suelily is a breath of fresh air. One that makes you want to do nothing but relax and listen.

The songstress from South London, though singing from a young age, has only built up the courage to release music this year - and I thank her for it.

Using the modern day musician's tool that is Soundcloud, Suelily has so far expressed her feelings of internal struggle, relationships, and the idea of love.

This songbird can only be described as a soothing soul. Her amazing vocals take you through the motions of rain on a hot day, calming and refreshing.

Inspired by the works of Erykah Badu, A Tribe Called Quest, and Amy Winehouse, Suelily has been working on a three-part series titled The H.

"In the pipeline, I have a project called The H which represents the healing process," she told FutureSNDS (a platform celebrating new sounds).

"Each song is going to represent a different stage of the healing process, and the different feelings we go through."

The first release is titled Water, a heartbreaking tale of the attempt to reconcile fallen lovers.

The song fades up as you would expect an ocean's wave, with melodic piano chords and a high hat, making for a smooth ride.

"I think that it's time, it's time I face the facts," ring harsh and true to any healing process, and this song's calming tone is perhaps done so to ease the pain.

Lullaby released two months ago appears to be a look in the mirror.

"I don't know how to play this crazy game," is sung in the trademark melodic whisper. Suelily brings weight to her lyrics in this song, a reflection of herself in the music.

The self-described "hippy at heart" has a distinct soothing tone and a "lullaby" of a voice.
