Alternative Music - Pariss Elektra

Written By Isaac Ouro-Gnao

This week's feature shoots back out of Watford, all the way to Leeds.

Pariss Elektra's soul is infused with Jazz.  Her early influences are mainly Prince, Jimmy Hendrix and Lenny Kravitz, being her idols growing up and still to this day.

Her inspirations have moulded her into an up-and-coming Neo Soul artist. Her sound pays homage to the greats while using their influence to make her own soothing yet energetic music, and embolden her stage presence.

Storytelling is a great talent of Pariss, experimenting to find a "flowing soulful sound of her own presenting lyrics that aim to please, ease and maybe take you deep down her emotional rabbit whole".

The singer/songwriter finds new ways to say new things - from love to self-worth. Her talent has gained comparisons to Erykah Badu, Amy Winehouse and Corinne Bailey-rae in their younger, early days.

There is a long, arduous road that awaits all 21st century musicians, but it's not hard to see Pariss' potential to succeed.

The song I've chosen this week is Honey Bee. I would liken her vocals and harmonies, which are a staple to the Neo Soul movement, to Janelle Monae

This feature has a deep, mature, and melodic sound that tells a beautiful story.
