A new campaign will launch in Watford this month, encouraging people to dedicate time to their physical and mental wellbeing.

Running from 20 - 26 September, Watford BID Wellness Week aims to help the town get active.

A range of activities, events and special promotions will take place throughout the town centre for 6 days.

The campaign has been organised by Watford Business Improvement District (BID).

Fitness4Less, NRG, and Watford Central Leisure Centre are offering free access to their gyms along with a selection of group exercise classes, to everyone that signs up for the Wellness Week Gym Jump In programme.

Those who enrol on the programme can enjoy free swim sessions, 1-2-1 advice, a Boditrax scan as well as being entered into a prize draw – where you could win health and fitness goodies.

There will also be an opportunity to attend free outdoor exercise classes in the events space at The Parade (located by the pond), between 9am and 1pm on Saturday 25 September.

Physical Trainers from Fitness4Less, NRG and Central Leisure Centre will lead group sessions to suit all fitness levels.

This includes popular workouts such as Zumba and spinning – no sign up is required.

Businesses from Watford town centre can take part in the Wellness Week steps challenge.

Team members will compete to see which organisation accumulates the most steps between 20 and 26 September.

Maria Manion, Chief Executive of Watford BID, said: “Wellness Week demonstrates a great way that businesses in Watford town centre can collaborate to support one another whilst also offering a great range of ways for local residents and employees to look after their physical and mental wellbeing.

“It’s the first campaign that the BID has run dedicated to physical and mental health, we’ve created a campaign where everyone can be involved and we encourage everyone to get their friends, family and colleagues involved.”

This month’s Wellness Week is one of several campaigns co-ordinated by Watford BID.

Set up in April 2016, the BID is made up of a diverse range of businesses that aim to improve the experience of the town for residents, employees and visitors.

This includes enhancing the look and feel of Watford in addition to safeguarding its future.
