Nearly 150 people have, so far, registered to take part in Peace Hospice Care’s London Bridges Walk, a 10 mile walk across 12 of London’s most iconic bridges, on Sunday 11th March (Mother’s Day).
The charity hopes to raise £20,000 from the event for its vital services for patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses in South West Hertfordshire and the wider area. This year, for the first time, the walk includes a history trail and quiz which will make it a great family friendly event. Registration is limited so anyone interested is urged to sign up quickly.
Local mother and daughter, Carol and Lindsey Gibson (from South Oxhey and Watford), are this year taking part in the walk. Both Carol and Lindsey volunteer and fundraise regularly for the Hospice.

Lindsey said: “I didn’t realise that the Hospice is a charity until Mum started working on their reception. She told me about the amazing difference it makes to people, to be able to be at the Hospice when they are very ill. We’re both proud to do our bit and help raise money for such a good cause – that’s why I fundraise and volunteer.”
Carol added: “Lindsey and I always do as much as we can to help Peace Hospice Care. We’re doing the London Bridges Walk together this year – to raise sponsorship for the charity and have a great mother-and-daughter day out!”
Everyone who signs up to the walk will be given a commemorative London Bridges Walk t-shirt and those who complete the 10 mile route will get a medal too.
Anyone interested in taking part can register via the Peace Hospice Care website, call 01923 335 373 or email via events@peacehospicecare.org.uk.
