There’s still time to meet your favourite authors at LitFest ‘16

Hertfordshire County Council’s library service is holding a number of events across the county as part of a literary festival held throughout March and April.

There’s an event for everyone at LitFest: Surgeon Samer Nashef unclothes his own profession, revealing its secrets in ‘The Naked Surgeon’ at Welwyn Garden City Library, or if you’re into ‘Scandicrime’, Watford Library will host the UK’s leading expert, Barry Forshaw, as he explains his Guide to Nordic Noir.

History buffs can enjoy a talk from local expert Andrew Houseman on President Abraham Lincoln in Hemel Hempstead, or meet Roman history novelists Ben Kane and Anthony Riches, who will talk to visitors in full Roman costume at Cheshunt Library in April.

Author Annie Murray will introduce visitors to the latest of her Birmingham-based novels, Now the War is Over, at an event in Ware Library later in the month.

More details are available online Adult Litfest '16 Programme and Children's Litfest '16 Programme and the festival closes on World Book Night, Saturday 23rd April, with afternoon tea with best-selling crime writer John Harvey.

Teresa Heritage, Cabinet Member for Libraries, said: “Once again, our library service has organised an exciting programme of events for LitFest. There’s a fantastic range of authors lined up, covering the full spectrum of literary tastes, interests and themes.

"Events like LitFest ’16 are part of our vision for the future of libraries in Hertfordshire. We are committed to keeping the library as an inspiring place at the heart of the community, ambitious in its use of digital technology and delivered in partnership with local residents, organisations and communities.”
