If you love cycling and want to support others to get riding, become a British Cycling Ride Leader with Watford Cycle Hub and share your passion with others.

British Cycling and Watford Cycle Hub welcomes all kinds of cyclists – as long as you have heaps of enthusiasm and you’re happy to support all who attend the rides from beginner bike riders, families and those who ride more regularly. There’s no need to be a cycling expert or competitive racer, just be confident riding in a group and have a good level of fitness.

The free, assessed one-day course qualifies you to deliver guided bike rides for groups of beginner and intermediate level adults and accompanied children on roads and cycle paths. After completing the leadership award, Ride Leaders will receive free kit and British Cycling Ride membership.

The next free Ride Leader training course in Watford takes place on Saturday 7 March at Queens School, Bushey.

Benefits of leading Rides with Watford Cycle Hub is that you’ll be joining a group of experienced Ride Leaders who lead rides within a structured programme that appeals to all from novice cyclists to those seeking more of a challenge!

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said:

“The Cycle Hub do a great job in helping to promote cycling in our town and provide an invaluable service to people in Watford. I’m really pleased we are able to support them and provide them with new facilities opening soon. They have encouraged people of all ages and abilities to take up cycling, ranging from the very experienced to those who have never ridden a bicycle. I’d encourage anybody who is interested, to register and get involved – you won’t regret it.”

Director Kate Jenkins said:

“We’re looking for people across Watford to join our team of volunteer Ride Leaders to inspire more people to be more active, have fun and ride bikes with HSBC UK Guided Rides. You don’t need to be a cycling expert or competitive racer, just be confident riding in a group and have a good level of cycling fitness. We welcome all kinds of cyclists as long as you have heaps of enthusiasm and you’re happy to support beginner bike riders and families. We’re often referred to as ‘the best kept secret in Watford.’, so why not get involved and help spread the word”.

In return, it is expected Ride Leaders to be flexible with their weekend availability and commit to leading guided rides. All rides are delivered on set routes, at set times, specified by British Cycling, the majority of rides will take place on Sundays throughout the year.
