Peace Hospice Care's event is returning this Saturday to challenge and cheer on hundreds of contenders taking part in the “sunniest, funniest” Push it for Peace.
This year’s event will take place in Chiswell Green, St Albans, with over 30 obstacles on a five mile stretch awaiting eager challengers.
The new purpose built location has free parking nearby, children's rides, refreshments, live music and much more, for participants and spectators to enjoy.
The charity is aiming to raise £80,000 this year.
Peace Hospice Care Events & Community Fundraising Manager, Peter Watson, said: "The weather is looking good and we really want to have as many entrants as possible to join in and face the challenge.
“We also welcome the community to come along, cheer and support the event and join in the fun."
Contestants this year range from 16 to 68 years old.
Participants will endure a plunge down the Belly Flop waterslide and slip helplessly through an eight metre tunnel into the muddy Sheep Dip. Or not! Everyone has the choice to run around an obstacle they don’t fancy.
One challenger ready to get stuck in and get muddy is Vibe 107.6’s very own Lee Partridge. The Breakfast Show presenter, and full time nice guy, wanted to "push myself to give it a go and take on the course".
He said: "I’ve done similar events like this in the past, and I’m a big supporter of the peace hospice in Watford because I know a lot of people that they have helped out.
“I’ve seen it grow over recent years and thought it was about time that I push myself to give it a go and take on the course. I’ve raised £100 so far from a friend who thought I was mad to attempt it.
“But it sounds like fun. I’ve hurt my ankle playing football so I haven’t had time to properly train for it, but it’s not timed or a race. It’s more about working together to complete the course in your own time.”
It’s not too late to enter. For more information contact the events team on 01923 335373, email events@peacehospicecare.org.uk or visit www.peacehospicecare.org.uk/events.
People can also sign up on the day.
