The Pump House Theatre Company is proud to present an updated version of this much loved, hilarious and thought-provoking comedy; continuing its mission to bring diverse, challenging and entertaining productions to audiences in the area.
The play is set in and around ‘Mr Cinders’ a Wakefield nightclub in the 1990s and demonstrates the events of an average Friday night. Experience the evening from the perspective of our four bouncers, four girls out for a birthday and four lads out on the pull as well as a host of other characters all played by the same four actors. This will be a dynamic and energised production with actors switching between characters with minimal props and costume – and of course some great tunes to accompany the acting.
This hilarious play was updated by its writer and original Director, John Godber, to be set in the 90s from his original piece set in the 80s; which was first performed at the Edinburgh fringe in August 1984 and went on to win ‘Comedy of the Year’ at the 1985 Olivier Awards.
Director Russ Clancy says: “I am delighted to bring this play to the Pump House Theatre stage and have had an absolute blast working with such a talented cast and crew. It’s been a real team effort by all the cast and creatives involved to bring the script to life with hilarious effect.”
The production takes place between Tuesday 8 and Saturday 12 April 2025 at the Pump House theatre in Watford. Evening performances begin at 7.45pm. The ticket pricing is very reasonable at £18 for adults and £16 for concessions (students and over 60s). Customers who buy 10 tickets will get one ticket free.
