Photography competition in Watford

‘Watford in Extraordinary Times’

Watford Borough Council invite residents to submit photographs that capture their experience of this unique time in history

Watford Borough Council have launched a photography competition - ‘Watford in Extraordinary Times’.

The competition, as part of the Council’s Watford Together initiative, invites residents to submit photographs that capture their experience of this unique time in history.

There are two categories – one for children aged up to 14 and one for adults. To enter, residents are asked to submit their photograph(s) to communications@watford.gov.uk by Friday 26 June 2020, along with a description of the image, and your name, age (if taking part in the children’s category), phone number and postcode.

Five winners from each category will be selected by a panel of judges and announced on Friday 3 July 2020. First prize for both categories is a Nintendo Switch Lite. Runners up in the children’s category will each receive an arts and crafts pack and the adults will receive The Spicery’s tantalising 'How To Be A Curry Legend' cookery kit.

Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: "Our aim through Watford Together is to keep the community in Watford connected and help people feel better and less isolated during this time.

"We have seen people capture some amazing pictures of their experience over the past few months, so we want to bring all of these together through a competition and collect these photographs for future generations to see. I hope as many of you take part as possible, as we have some great prizes and I look forward to seeing your entries, good luck."

The photography will be used in a special exhibition at Watford Museum and other venues around the town. The winning photographs will be shared on the council’s social media channels. Find out more at watfordtogether.co.uk.
