On December 10th the highly anticipated musical ‘Toys, The Musical’ premiered at the Pump House Theatre and Arts Centre in Watford. This new production, which brings to life the imaginative world of toys, marks an exciting new chapter for local theatre and showcases the wealth of talent in Watford.
Toys, The Musical, written and performed by a talented ensemble of artists, combines music, storytelling, and vibrant performances to tell a captivating tale.The production is a testament to the thriving arts community in Watford, and its grand opening was a momentous occasion for the town's cultural sector. Dame Arlene Phillips serves as an executive co-producer for this enchanting new musical, alongside the creative team of West End producers Paul Morrissey Ltd, in collaboration with the Pump House Trust and Harlequin Theatricals.
The premiere event was attended by the elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, alongside 13 Liberal Democrat councillors, in celebration of the local arts scene and the contribution of the Pump House Theatre to Watford’s cultural landscape. This production is even more significant as the Pump House Theatre and Arts Centre has been a hub for creative expression for over 50 years.
Peter Taylor, commenting on the night, said: “It was great to see Toys the Musical on its opening night at Pump House Theatre. This exciting show demonstrates the creativity and talent at the Pump House who have worked with Harlequin Theatricals and Arlene Philips to deliver this production. It was fantastic to see a show of this calibre there and we are fortunate in Watford to have fantastic shows at the Pump House, Palace Theatre and next year at the Colosseum too.”
