Cassiobury Park in the running to be named as the nation’s favourite

Watford Borough Council is asking residents to vote for their favourite Green Flag park to make it the nations favourite.

The annual People’s Choice Award, run by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, gives the public a chance to vote for their favourite park or green space. In 2014, Cassiobury Park came 4th in the Awards.

In Watford, there are six award winning sites to choose from, with St Mary’s Churchyard and Callowand Rec joining Cassiobury Park, Cheslyn House & Gardens, Woodside Playing Fields and Oxhey Park.

Elected Mayor Dorothy Thornhill said: “Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see Cassiobury Park back in the top three of the nation’s favourite parks? I’d love to see our other award winning spaces in the top ten too – please do help us and get voting.”

Voting is really easy, all you need to do is:

•           Go to www.greenflagaward.org

•           Select 'East of England' on the interactive map

•           Find your favourite park or green space in Watford

•           Click the 'vote for this site' button.

The deadline for voting will close at noon on Tuesday 30th September and the winner of the People’s Choice award will be announced in October.

All of Watford’s parks are managed in partnership with Veolia, with help from an army of volunteers who give their time to ensure our green spaces are clean, green, safe and welcoming. To find out more about Watford’s parks, please visit www.watford.gov.uk/parks
