The Police have told Watford Borough Council that the Cassiobury Park car park must close. The decision was made after officers patrolled through the open space and were greatly alarmed by the vast numbers of people arriving on Saturday morning.
With thousands of people said to be risking their lives and breaking Covid-19 guidelines, the park’s car parking area has been closed for the weekend – the Police on hand to ensure that no vehicles enter.
Speaking honestly to residents about the situation at Cassiobury Park, Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “Not only are you endangering your own life, but you are putting the lives of other people at risk. This is an incredibly serious situation for Watford and for the country.
“We are closing the car par to ensure everybody’s safety and to reduce the number of lives that are lost.”
