Watford Borough Council has launched a survey to gather feedback from the local community on the lower High Street
The council of Watford is actively exploring ideas to improve Watford town centre area between Watford High Street Station, through exchange road, till the first entrance into the atria. This would help guarantee its overall appeal and continued success, which has been acknowledged with multiple national accolades.
Due to its prominent location within the town, it functions as the primary entrance into the town centre. Hence, the significant volume of traffic that passes through. Unfortunately, the ring road's existing design places obstacles in the way of cyclists and pedestrians, making it difficult to enter the town centre from this direction.
Peter Taylor, Mayor of Watford, said: “We are committed to investing in our vibrant, accessible, and sustainable town centre, and want to hear what the local community thinks of the area around the lower part of the High Street.
“...so that it is a more welcoming space that reflects our identity, supports connectivity, and enhances the overall quality of life for residents and visitors alike.”
Changes made would only improve the aesthetics of the southern entrance and allow the safer crossing of the ring road for bikes and pedestrians.
To ensure this change residents are encouraged to participate in the survey accessible at surveymonkey.com/r/watford-high-street, open till Thursday 8 August.
