Vibe 107.6 FM benefits from Watford Borough Council's Small Grants Fund!

We are delighted to announce that Vibe 107.6 FM has received £2,000 of funding from the Small Grants Fund to go towards vital new equipment!

Watford Borough Council's Small Grants Fund offers not-for-profit Voluntary & Community Sector organisations the opportunity to apply for a grant of up to £2,000 to help towards a community initiative, project and/or item(s) of equipment.

Vibe 107.6 FM has been fortunate enough to receive funding through this scheme towards a replacement server and playout PC for our not for profit radio station - essential equipment that allows the station to operate and broadcast all of its on-air shows.  The previous system was on loan after the previous one failed and a replacement one was urgently needed for the radio station to continue operating successfully.

This support was crucial so we could continue providing our listeners with a wide mix of music including promoting local unsigned bands with live sessions and interviews on our Sunday night show, Raw Vibes.  It will also enable us to carry on delivering an exclusive radio service that promotes local news, travel, events and businesses, both on air and online.  We also promote events and newsworthy items for various local organisations and charities, such as The Big Festival and the Watford Mencap 10K, as well as playing a large part in community events such as the Watford FC Promotion celebrations in Cassiobury Park and the Cassiobury Fireworks.

Our community is at the heart of Vibe 107.6 FM. From the presenters themselves to the articles on our website and the events we organise, our radio station puts local people first and all of our shows are produced and presented by volunteers. We also help the community by providing work experience for a constant group of 40 volunteers by giving them the chance to be involved in the station's activities.  This includes broadcasting, managing an active website and social media. In doing so, we have helped people who were unemployed find work, many of whom have moved into careers within broadcasting.

Therefore, we are delighted and extremely grateful to Watford Borough Council and the Small Grants Fund for their support.  The funding we received has enabled us to purchase necessary equipment to continue supporting our local community not just as a radio station but also in organising and supporting events, providing volunteering opportunities and promoting local businesses.

More information about the Small Grants Fund can be found online and it is currently open until February 2016, but final applications must be received no later than Friday 5th February 2016. Applications must be submitted at least 6 weeks before the start of your project/before your equipment is required.
